How do I get the best picture and sound from my cable?
There are several ways to insure that you're getting
the best picture quality and sound from your equipment. Start by making
sure that the connectors on all of your equipment are tight. Avoid positioning
appliances or other electronic devices close to your television. These
devices are capable of emitting electromagnetic fields that cause diminished
picture quality such as green field appearing on your screen. Insure
that the cable lines run in your home are of good quality (RG-6 cable
or comparable). Finally, splitting too many TV's from the same cable
or drop line creates signal degradation, resulting in poor quality audio
and video.
|
Why is my reception bad?
Check all cable connections to make sure they are tight.
Check all wires for fraying or any other damage, such as animals chewing
on the wire or furniture sitting on the line. Make sure that your TV
is on the proper channel to work with your converter box and/or VCR.
To determine if the reception problem is originating inside or outside
of your home, remove the cable from the converter box and plug it directly
into the TV. If the reception is fine, then the problem is inside your
house. If you have multiple TV's hooked up off of one line by using
a splitter, your signal quality will not be at its highest level. Also,
if you have a splitter in your line and only have one TV hooked up to
it, you are still losing signal quality becasue the splitter is still
splitting the signal. A solution to this would be have another house
drop installed. If all of your connections are correct and tight but
you are still experiencing poor reception, you might be in need of new
cable lines. In order to correct the problem, we may need access to
your premises. If required, a service call will be scheduled at a time
convenient to you. We will make all reasonable efforts to resolve any
complaints you have concerning the quality of our signals promptly and
efficiently.

My cable is out. What should I do?
Please check to see if the electricity is on, the television is plugged
in and that your TV is on the correct channel if you have a converter
or VCR hooked up. Check all televisions in the house to determine if
the problem exists on all sets or just on the one television. If there
is no signal to any set, it is most likely a problem outside of your
home. You can also check with your neghbors to determine if it is your
area that is experiencing a problem or if it is primarily affecting
your residence. Please call us to report the outage.

| Digital Cable Questions |
Do I have to buy a Digital TV to receive Digital Cable?
No, actually the opposite is true. When you order Digital
Cable you receive a digital converter box that modifies the incoming
digital signal so that it can be viewed with your current TV. Because
of this feature, you will be able to enjoy many more years of service
from your current television, without having to buy an expensive Digital
TV.
|
Do I need to have the wiring in my home replaced?
As long as your cable is a direct line from the outside
to your TV and is of good quality (RG-6), then Digital Choice should
be able to run over your existing wires.
|
If the power goes out, do I lose my Digital On-Screen Guide?
Yes, but only temporarily. Once power is restored it
will take a few minutes for the guide to return. Program information
will then begin to appear. Future programming information and access
to all features will be restored shortly thereafter.
|
How do I filter out adult content?
The parental control feature allows you to restrict the viewing of Pay-Per-View
programs, as well as certain program titles and channels. Once restricted,
a program can be viewed only by entering the parental control code.
|
My digital remote does not seem to work?
Always make sure you press the appropriate function
button before you try to use the remote. A red light should appear on
the top of the remote over the name of the equipment that the remote
is trying to work.
|
Why is my digital cable snowy?
The digital converter needs the television to be on
channel three in order to work correctly. If you are experiencing snowy
pictures after you turn your converter on, make sure that you television
is on channel three. If you are still experiencing problems, please
call our office to troubleshoot your problem.
|
Do I need to use my television remote as well as the digital remote?
No, when your digital cable is first installed and
setup your remote control is programmed to run your television. What
you must remember is that you need to push the correct function on the
top of the remote before you press any buttons so that the remote will
know what device it is trying to control. For example to turn your TV
and digital cable on or off you must remember to press the TV button
first and then the power button(this turns the TV off) and secondly
press the cable button, then the power button (this turns the cable
box on and off).

| Cable Modem Questions |
What are the differences between cable modem service and DSL?
Cable modem service delivers content directly to your
personal computer via a cable connection, cable modem and customized
software. A cable modem provides the tools a customer needs to participate
fully in the online community at speeds that blow traditional dial-up
modems away.
DSL, or Digital Subscriber Line, is a modem technology
that transforms ordinary phone lines into high-speed digital lines for
fast Internet access. You must have a DSL modem and live within a certain
distance of your telephone company's central office to get DSL Internet
service.
|
If my cable is out, how will that affect my cable modem Internet service?
If your cable service is out, your cable modem Internet
service will be out as well. We will work diligently to restore both
services as fast as we can.
|
an I watch TV and use the cable modem service at the same time?
Yes. While the signals travel over the same cable,
neighbor cable television connections and cable modem connections are
not affected by simultaneous use.
